Well I haven't been inspired lately, mainly because I've been too busy reorganizing my life in anticipation for this remodel. We are only doing the master bedroom, bath and adding a laundry room, 1/2 bath and porch so I guess it could be much worse. And today, it began. I felt a small sense of pride when the contractor said he was impressed we had cleaned it out so well, down to taking the light bulbs. (Don't judge - those damn energy efficient things are expensive!). And demolition starts tomorrow....I'm a wee bit frightened.
This morning was obviously stressful just being a Monday and Mr. D being on call tonight. However, I could not imagine how stressful it could have been if we had not had a great friend offer us lodging for two months and who lives 1/2 mile from us! Amazing! I'll call him Heinz (because he loves all things German- not in wierd Nazi way, more like a "he loves great beer and German food and can speak the language" kind of way). This is great because SBG adores Heinz and it's mutual (it helps if you say like Teri Garr in Young Frankenstein). NNBD....well he's an acquired taste. And when it comes to changes in routine, dogs are not always cooperative. NNBD refused to "go" after three attempts. Ugh! So it was kennel time for him this morning, and I feel like a bad mother. So we'll try again at lunch.
Not only is Heinz a great roomie but he also met the Salvation Army truck for a pickup at my house today so I didn't have to leave work at 10 am. Wunderbar! Of course, I like to give us some props as roomies too, we did buy him new bed linens for the guest room (okay, that was purely selfish but he can keep them!).
So this blog might get off topic (wait, there was a topic?!) a bit while I chronicle this part of our DINK's journey but maybe it will be, not only cathartic for me, but useful for any future followers.
Auf Wiedersehen!
P.S.: I have decided to title each post of the remodel updates with titles of Beatles songs. No real reason other than I clearly have too much free time...and I will try to refrain from the easy ones like "HELP!"
