If you were to ask me if I'd ever had the bad luck to miss my daily cocktail, I'd have to say that I doubt it; where certain things are concerned, I plan ahead. - Luis Buñuel

Smelling the roses (yellow ones of course)

We survived our trip to Texas.  And more importantly, the two hours prior to the beginning of our trip.  The tornado mentioned in the previous post did indeed hit east of Jackson, only 1/2 mile from my husband's office.  Thankfully, I was completely ignorant of this fact until later as phone service was horrible.  Because I would have been a basket case and could not get in touch with him.  And it took me three times as long to get to him.  But we only left an hour later than planned and headed west, towards beautiful blue skies, leaving all the nastiness behind.

It prompted me to really take stock and be very thankful that we are so blessed to be able to travel and spend such quality time together.  And the weekend was a reflection of that.  We had a glass of wine in the hotel lobby and went to dinner at a French-style bistro.  Then Saturday, which was gorgeous, was spent running a couple of shopping errands, having an amazing Tex-Mex brunch (Ozona Grill in Dallas is great, make sure to sit outside), taking a 2 mile walk, taking a nap (yes!), followed by a quiet dinner of pizza and wine and movie!  The movie in itself is remarkable since Mr. D has no patience for movies.

On Sunday, after sleeping in, we checked out and went to Central Market.  Confession time:  Mr. D & I are grocery-store foodies/freaks.  We don't have to go the fancy restaurants that serve foie gras and six course chef tastings.  Just give us a cool grocery store with lots of bakery items, meats, cheeses, etc., and we are like the proverbial kids in a candy store.  At one time, we even joked about visiting every Whole Foods location as a dare.  Having said that, after visiting Central Market, Whole Foods is dead to me now.  It is amazing!  And yes, we packed a plug-in cooler for transporting our loot back home.

So that's our "wild" weekend.  And it was great, just spending time together - talking, eating, drinking.  Hmmm....maybe that's what real "dinking" is.

Mr. D's Wild Ride

I am taking Mr. D to Dallas today for his birthday weekend.  It was a surprise until last night when I figured that he would guess where we were going the minute we headed west.  I know it's a long trek for just a weekend but I can tell he needs to get away and I need to shop....so its a win-win.

So it should be a weekend full of drinking and "dinking"!  Wait, that sounded kind of naughty...hmmm, well maybe it is. "Nudge, nudge, wink, wink, know what I mean?"  So hopefully there will be updates and lovely "bon mots" to share with my one follower (Hi, Sara!).

And did I mention a tornado is about to hit Jackson? Excellent....
